Blaster Break - 2010 Topps WWE

I couldn't resist - I'm weak!  I grabbed a pack of the new Topps WWE cards to review for APTBNL and before leaving the card area @ Target I saw a blaster in the corner of my eye.  Hmm, Elimination Chamber Relic card in each box.  Why not!  I ripped through the 10 packs rather quickly, though I did take the time to read the back of each card.  Topps has done a fantastic job with this set and I see myself buying more packs in the future.  I didn't take the time to scan each card, but I did scan the inserts - which I ended up with far more than I thought I would.  I believe every pack had at least one type of insert...and of them all only 2 were parallels!

OK, so these aren't inserts or parallels...but the photos speak for themselves.  I'm not sure why Topps didn't photograph them in matching outfits though.  They are the Bella Twins afterall!

#107 the Road Warriors
How could I not include a scan of one of the most iconic wrestling tag teams?!

#12 Michelle McCool - black parallel (996/999)
This card confuses me as this colored parallel wasn't listed on the blaster box nor the packs.  I believe it's the same black border used for Topps' baseball and football releases.

#26 Brie Bella - blue parallel (1250/2010)
First I was seeing doubles, now I'm seeing triplets!  This blue parallel is the same Topps used in the 2010 Opening Day baseball set earlier this year

#TT12 Michelle McCool - Topps Town
Yes, Topps Town even shows up in WWE product!  At least the cards are inserted 1:6 packs and printed on foil board this time around making them a little more desirable.

#NH4 Edge - National Heroes
Interesting concept for a wrestling card set.  Highlights wrestler's country heritage - in the case for Edge it's Canada.

Photobucket
#HO7 Kane - History Of
Gives you some background information on the wrestler and their journey through the WWE.

Photobucket
#FF20 Mark Henry - Favorite Finishers! (World's Strongest Slam)
Now this is a great idea for an insert set.  We all knows wrestling is all about the flamboyant characters and the finishing moves.

#FF10 Yoshi Tatsu - Favorite Finishers! (Buzz Saw Kick)

Photobucket
#FF11 Drew McIntyre - Favorite Finishers! (Future Shock DDT)

John Cena - Championship Material Puzzle Parallel (United States Champion)

Topps decided to make puzzle parallels of some of the inserts - I don't care for the idea myself

Kane - Championship Material (Intercontinental Champion)

Photobucket
#C6 CM Punk - Championship Material (ECW Champion)
These cards give you the low down on when they won the particular title they are pictured with.

#C35 Santino Marella - Championship Material (Intercontinental Champion)

Chris Jericho - World Championship Material Puzzle Parallel

Photobucket
#W4 Triple H - World Championship Material (World Heavyweight Champion)

Photobucket
#W22 CM Punk - World Championship Material (World Heavyweight Champion)

and finally we have our guaranteed relic card...

 #EC-19 R-Truth

This is my first wrestling relic card so I'm not too sure what to think.  Event used canvas?  Is this from the ring apron or the actual ring?  Eh, whatever - it's still some what cool.  I believe R-Truth is from my home town of Charlotte, NC too so that is something.

Overall I gotta say Topps has done a great job with this set.  The base set features 110 cards consisting of Superstars from both brands (RAW & Smack Down) as well as WWE Legends and even cards of WWE's NWO wannabees, NXT/Nexus.
I got 2 different checklists in the packs and it gives a glimpse of the line-up of Superstars included in the autograph and dual autograph inserts and it's pretty impressive.  I'll be building this set so check the sidebar for a link of what I'm looking for to finish it off.
