Atlanta bound in September...Finally!

While sitting on the couch this evening with my wife watching the Braves / Pirates game we started to think about going to a game one weekend.  We went a couple of times to Atlanta to catch a game when we were dating, but since we've been married I think we've only been to one game.  It's been close to 5 years since I've made the trip to Turner Field.  We've tried scheduling a trip in the past, but w/ 2 small children its not as easy for us to leave town on a whim anymore.

We fired up my wife's netbook and headed over to the Braves site to look at the schedule.  We decided on Saturday, Sept. 3rd when the Braves take on the Dodgers.  Thanks to Stub Hub we found 2 lower level tickets for just under $30 after all of the fees.  I can't remember the exact section number at the moment, but the seats look good.  I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to this weekend trip.  I've read of other blogger's trips to MLB fields and I've been oh so jealous.  I'm glad everything fell into place for us.  Now I just hope it doesn't rain that day!

  4. I'm afraid to tell you, it's worse than what night owl said. That's Labor Day weekend, which means you'll be right in the heart of DragonCon and some extra holiday traffic. I'm not sure how you do your hotels and such, but avoid downtown at all costs, and I'd book now if you haven't already. You will probably have better luck staying outside the perimeter. You shouldn't have any problems at the game itself or anything, since it's far enough away from the Peachtree Center area. Just be prepared - and don't be surprised if you happen to see some sci-fi costumes out and about (depending on where you go).

  5. We're staying in Decatur (spelling?) and plan to take the MARTA to the stadium. We made the mistake driving into downtown years ago and vowed never to make that mistake again.

DragonCon...sounds like a comic convention! Hmmm, maybe I can convince the wife to let me check it out before heading back to Rock Hill on Sunday.

  6. If you need any help with taking the MARTA, shoot me an email. I take it to the game all the time from Decatur. Much easier than driving.

    Enjoy the game!
