2012 Topps Laziness / Beautiful Tim Hudson

My promise to you.  I will not flood this blog with post after post after post of 2012 Topps.  Outside of my pending group break I plan to keep the 2012 Topps post minimal.  That said I wanted to share this.

I watched Chris Olds' Beckett video the other day on YouTube and I was happy to see an awesome card of Craig Kimbrel hunched over on the mound getting ready to throw some gas.  Later on in I ran across a different card of Kimbrel in his sharp red jersey.  Since Topps hasn't released anything about the SPs I thought maybe, just maybe I got lucky.  Turns out the red jersey is #87 while the latter is #20.

The thing that got me all worked up however is the back of the card.  Just take a look.

Do you see what I see?  It's the exact same card back!  C'mon Topps.  I'm glad you made 2 Kimbrel cards, but couldn't you at least come up w/ a different back?  Perhaps a brief story on how he won the NL Rookie of the Year award or something?  Heck, I'd even take a write up of his and the Braves September collapse!

However all is not lost.  Topps redeemed their selves with this awesome photo of Tim Hudson.  I will be chasing the rainbow.

It is evident in my opinion that Topps has upped the quality of the photography for this year's flagship set.  I've seen lots of great play at the plate action shots among others already.

Back to the Huddy card.  I wish they would've made mention of the game he hit this homer he's starting at.  I'd even take a card with his batting statistics.  Now that would be a "game changer".

Super Bowl Countdown - Carolina Panthers Patch Edition Day #2

5 more days until the big game my team has nothing to do with!  Staying on offense we'll head over to the WR position and check out a nice card of Steve Smith.  To bad the shiny foil front of the card doesn't show better in the scan.

Super Bowl Countdown - Carolina Panthers Patch Edition

In preparation for the Super Bowl this weekend that my team isn't a part of I thought I'd share some nice Carolina Panthers patch cards in my collection.  We'll kick off the feature with DeAngelo Williams.

Topps Diamond Giveaway Haul

Right after I entered my 45th code into the Diamond Giveaway site I knew I was done.  I've been trying and trying to trade some of my 60's and 70's cards for more Atlanta Braves die-cut diamond cards with no such luck.  So I decided it was time to ship the majority of the cards.  A big padded envelope showed up this weekend with my cards.  Most of them are available if anyone wants them.  Just let me know and I'm sure we can work something out.

Trade with reader Jeffrey Wiltse

It seemed as if I was in the middle of a trading drought.  I didn't have the time to browse many want lists and I wasn't receiving any offers.  All of this changed over the last week or so when I started to get trade offer after trade offer in my e-mail's inbox.  One of these offers was from reader Jeffrey Wiltse.  He was working on completing his 2010 Topps Allen & Ginter set and also set his eyes on some 2011 Topps Gold parallels.  In return he offered up a variety of cards for several different insert sets I've been slowly working on.  Here are a few of the cards that filled some holes in the sets.

The 2008 Topps Historical Campaign Matchups are greatly appreciated as they put a big dent in the want list.  Same goes for the 2011 Kimball Champions and the 2 SPs from 2011 Allen & Ginter put me ever so close to completing my first ever A&G set.  Thank you so much Jeffrey!

Sunday Verse

John 6:35

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty."

Have a fantastic day everyone!
