Catching up on old trade posts

If someone sends me cards I feel obligated not only to make sure I say thank you to the other party, but also highlight some of the goodies here on my corner of the internet. This package comes courtesy of The Dutch Card Guy, all the way from the Netherlands. I've had this team bag full of Braves cards sitting off to the side for so long now I can't remember if we made a trade, or if he was just trying to get rid of some Braves (that filthy Yankees fan!). Either way I'm very grateful for the cards as I needed most of them.

There was a good selection of mid 90's stuff, but these 4 stood out the most to me. Let's start with the Crime Dog himself, Fred McGriff. I always loved the Fleer Metal stuff and this 1996 Metal Universe card is awesome. I love the orange ripple effect over top of Fred. It's as you can almost feel the swing of the bat and the crack of the bat against the ball as he launches it into the outfield. The other McGriff card comes from a Tombstone Pizza promotion. I love the unlicensed and odd ball stuff like this. I also like the Panini stuff, but that should come as no surprise if I like stuff like this Tombstone card.

The Chipper Jones Mining For Gold insert from 1996 Metal Universe is awesome. These cards look so much better in hand than they do scanned. When I checked my lists I was surprised that I didn't already have this card.

The last card of the 4 is none other than slugger Ryan Klesko. The card comes from the 1995 Topps Stadium Club Member's Only set. The details of the set itself are foggy in my brain, but in addition to the chrome aspect of the card you can see a cracked look in the background. It almost looks like scales from a reptile or something. Not sure what Topps was aiming for here, but they achieved a neat looking card none the less.

These cards traveled a long way to me, but I'm glad to be able to add them to my Braves collection. Thanks again!

10 centerrific! Cards with kids Edition

1992 Upper Deck Fred McGriff Homerun Heroes

You know how some bloggers collect cards of something other than their favorite player and or team?  Like cards with cups in the picture, or American Flags, or facial hair.  A themed I've always thought was cool was cards with kids.  Being a parent of 2 this appeals to me more now than ever before.

I ran across this 1992 Upper Deck Homerun Heroes cards of Fred McGriff in the dime box at the LCS and quickly added it to my pile.  Now the question I ask is this McGriff's son or was he just making for a great baseball card?

I've got a few more cards that fit this new theme of mine and if I can ever unearth them, I'll get them scanned and shared here alongside Fred.

Check Out My Cards (order)

A little bird told me about a sale COMC was having so I decided to see what I had sitting in my account collecting virtual dust.  As you'll see it's a small selection of several things.  I was so excited to not only find these cards, but many of them were $.25 or less!  I'm working on setting up albums for each of the player(s) / team(s) I collect showcasing mostly autographs and game-used/relic cards.  For now enjoy my recent COMC haul.

1995 Score Gold Rush Rafael Belliard   1995 Leaf Limited Lumberjacks Fred McGriff #1467/5000

Love Raffie.  Love the photo.  The Gold Rush parallels were unique for their time.  Wooden McGriff card?  How could I not grab it?

2007 Upper Deck Masterpieces Stroke of Genius Michael Bourn auto

I shudder at adding a Phillies card into my collection, but these Masterpieces auto cards are so nice.

2000 Pacific Invincible Diamond Aces   2003 Upper Deck Sports Nut

$.10 each.  How could I pass 'em up?

2004 Donruss Craftsmen #0690/2000   1996 Leaf Signature Series Blas Minor auto

The Hudson Craftsmen card looks better than it scanned.  The Blas Minor auto I picked up b/c of the verse.

2002 Donruss RC   2002 Upper Deck Diamond Connection RC #1893/1999

David Ross is a highly underrated catcher in the Majors and I couldn't pass up some cheap RCs.

1999 Upper Deck SP Top Prospects   1997 Fleer Night & Day

I'm working on building this awesome 1997 Fleer Night & Day set...but this card will go to my Smoltz PC.

05-06 Topps Draft Day Moments auto/hat #049/120

Julius Hodge draft day hat auto.  Another nice card for my NC State basketball collection.

2000 Pacific Paramount End Zone Net-Fusions

I'm a sucker for these Net-Fusion Pacific cards!

Trade Completed!

I completed this trade last week with The Priceless Pursuit, but with my group break I was too busy to get this posted.

I got a Phil Hughes Peak Performance relic from my box of 2010 Series 2 Topps several weeks ago and gladly traded it away for this nice 2007 UD Sweet Spot jersey of former Braves 1B Fred McGriff. I don't come across many McGriff cards in a Braves uniform much less a game used card. The trade went very smoothly and I look forward to dealing away more Yankees in the near future!

In the Mail (Weekend Edition)

I got more swag in the mail this weekend than I had time to scan! So I grabbed some of my favorites and slapped them on the scanner.

Tom Glavine 07 Upper Deck Divisional Artifacts jersey (159/199), Andruw Jones 98 Pinnacle Epix, 03 Topps Tribute (015/225), Chipper Jones 98 Pinnacle Epix, 01 Upper Deck Championship Caliber, David Justice 98 Pacific Paramount Special Delivery, Greg Maddux 09 Upper Deck 20th Anniversary, Fred McGriff 95 Score Rules, Mark Teixeira 07 Bowman Sterling bat

Mike Gonzalez 10 Topps Gold (1630/2010), Tommy Hanson 09 Tristar Obak, Tim Hudson 10 Topps Peak Performance jersey, Brian McCann 08 Upper Deck Game Materials jersey, 08 Upper Deck Documentary, Albert Pujols 04 Studio Stars, Cal Ripken Jr. 98 Pinnacle Epix

08-09 Topps Signature Gerald Wallace autograph #d 0001/1499. I only paid $2 for this card and I had no idea until I received it that it was numbered let alone that it was #1! At least the sticker Topps used was semi-clear so it blends in with the white background.
