January 2013 Affordable Group Break - Football Edition

First off let me thank everyone for their support in nearly filling this group break.  I've thought about doing a football break before, but I was never sure if there would be enough interest.  If you'd like me to host another group break please comment and let me know.  Older (90's/2000's) product or current stuff?  I for one have my eye on 2012 Topps Magic.

Anyhow let's get on to the good stuff.  For those of you that like video check it below.  Since most of the boxes were light on packs the video only clocks in at 16 minutes.  If you want to skip around I started with Absolute, then Press Pass and finished it up w/ the best of the lot - Timeless Treasures.

2011 Panini Absolute Memorabilia

The box stated there would be one guaranteed hit...wasn't expecting a 2nd!  Big winners here were the Bengals and Tigers.

2012 Press Pass

According to my Google search Dan Persa went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft.  So I think the fair thing to do is random his card off to the teams that didn't get a hit.  I'll be excluding my teams from this by the way.  That leaves NY Hitman, cynicalbuddha, Scott Crawford, Underdog, jaybarkerfan and Superduperman99 left.

And the winner is...

UNDERDOG!

2011 Panini Timeless Treasures

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't stoked about pulling a Cam Newton, but the big winners here are the Redskins and Texans.  Love the Skins patch and it's numbered 1 of 25!  Check out that awesome JJ Watt auto.  I'm sure the Dimwit is dancing in Mobile tonight!

If you watched the randomization video the other night then you'll know I made mention of buying a 2012 Panini Crown Royale (retail) rack pack to include in the break.  I totally forgot to bust it before I closed out the video so those cards will be a surprise in everyone's stack.

In traditional fashion, I've also included extra cards for everyone's main team(s).  It just my way of saying thanks for coming along for the ride.  My goal is to have these cards packed up and in the mail Thursday and or Friday.

One last note.  If you are also participating in my 2013 Topps break, the boxes should arrive Friday.  If all goes well I'll rip the boxes that night and get everything posted Saturday at the latest.

First ever FOOTBALL Affordable Group Break!

** BOXES ARRIVED 1/25/13 - BUT WE STILL HAVE 3 SLOTS TO FILL! **

I haven't really gauged interest in doing a football group break, but with the NFL playoffs going on right now I've got football on the brain!  I found a nice little deal on 3 boxes of cards that we could break for cheap and yield five (5) autographs and/or memorabilia cards.

Not ever hosting a football break before I wasn't sure I wanted to go "all in" with full boxes, but this selection of 2011 Panini Timeless Treasures, 2011 Panini Absolute Memorabilia and 2012 Press Pass will give us 5 guaranteed hits to spread around.

- Timeless Treasures will yield 3 hits
- Absolute Memorabilia yields 1 hit
- Press Pass yields 1 hit...possible Andrew Luck or RGIII auto!

** As an added bonus I'll be throwing in bonus cards of your team claimed - it's my way of saying thanks for the support! **

My thinking is to pick one team and have a 2nd team randomized.  16 total slots.  Cost per 2 team slot would be $7.00 shipped.  Claim a 2nd (two team) slot for $5.00.  To claim a slot please leave a comment below with your team of choice.

Please send your gift payment via PayPal to flywheels at yahoo.com.  Please note this is a different PayPal address than the one I'm using for February's 2013 Topps group break.  I'm also asking that you e-mail me your screen name and full mailing address with the team you claimed.

Boxes will be ordered once we make some headway on filling this up.  We need to at least come close to filling up this break to make this work so claim your team(s) now!

2011 Panini Timeless Treasures

Panini continues to impress me with their NFL license.  These two beautiful cards fell into my lap from the new 2011 Timeless Treasures set.

2011 Panini Timeless Treasures auto #034/299

Kealoha Pilares is a rookie wide receiver out of the University of Hawaii.  While the Panthers haven't utilized him much in that role he has had a few bright spots recently in the role of kick and punt returner.  The Panthers finally have some depth at WR with Steve Smith, Brandon LaFell and David Gettis so I don't anticipate Kealoha getting many catches.  The return gave however has been abysmal for the Panthers for many many years.  I think the last time we had a good returner on special teams was when Michael Bates was still playing!  Anyhow onto the card.  Not only does Kealoha have an interesting looking autograph the blue ink used really pops on the white leather.  The card is serially numbered 034/299.

2011 Panini Timeless Treasures relic #073/250

The DeAngelo Williams card doesn't stand out as much as the Pilares auto, but it's still a nice looking card.  For starters the base design for Timeless Treasures is really nice looking.  I like the stitched leather look on the bottom corners.  I would've been nice if the card featured a different design, but since it's nice looking I can let it slide.  The plain black jersey swatch is nicely embedded in the card.  It's serially numbered 073/250.
