Gerald Wallace (Charlotte Bobcats) Traded to Portland

Michael Jordan: "Why do you wear that arm sock?  When I played the game we just wore sweat bands.  And oh by the way...we just shipped you across the country to the Trailblazers in exchange for the Joel Przybilla and draft picks."

Reports are conflicting right now as Yahoo! sports reports the draft pick is a 2nd round pick.  CBS Radio is reporting 2 1st round picks.  If it's 2 1st round picks then I'm OK w/ the deal.  I hate to see Wallace go as he was a lot of fun to watch.

From a cardboard perspective who else (outside maybe D.J. Augustine) will show up in future basketball card releases.  I swear it seemed like Wallace was the only Bobcats player not in his rookie season that appeared in game used & autographed insert sets.

I wish you well on the west coast Gerald.  You'll be missed in the Queen City.

Basketball Bonanza!

I guess I'm just trying to fill the sports void right now as I've started watching a little bit of the NBA.  Some nights I just flip on ESPN or load up ESPN on my Xbox 360 while I organize cards or blog about them.  Some nights however I've stopped to watch the games (at least in spurts) and I've enjoyed them.  I haven't really followed the NBA much since George Shin moved the Hornets out of Charlotte and down to New Orleans.  I watch the ACC basketball games when I can, but watching the NBA just hasn't wowed me as much.

All that said I have enjoyed the few games I've watched along with the handful of Charlotte Bobcats games I've caught on the television.  This somewhat renewed interest got me to looking for cheap cards of both Bobcats and Hornets online.  Here are just a few that I've recently added to my very small basketball card collection.

There really isn't much to these die-cut cards, but for whatever reason I think their pretty cool.

I like the orange jerseys so any relic card with a piece of orange jersey appeals to me.  The fact that I ended up getting this card for free was even better.  There was a big crease running down the card just below the "H" in Heroes.  I contacted the eBay seller and he promptly refunded my purchase price of $2.00.  Nice to know there are still some good sellers on eBay.

Ah, LJ...whatever happened to you?  Until Shinn gave you that big stupid contract everyone in Charlotte adored you.  You were Muggsy's gentle giant.  Then you went to New York and disappeared.  I still remember peering across the street from my aunt's house in amazement that you lived right there on Lake Wylie.

I got more swag in the mail this weekend than I had time to scan! So I grabbed some of my favorites and slapped them on the scanner.

Mike Gonzalez 10 Topps Gold (1630/2010), Tommy Hanson 09 Tristar Obak, Tim Hudson 10 Topps Peak Performance jersey, Brian McCann 08 Upper Deck Game Materials jersey, 08 Upper Deck Documentary, Albert Pujols 04 Studio Stars, Cal Ripken Jr. 98 Pinnacle Epix

08-09 Topps Signature Gerald Wallace autograph #d 0001/1499. I only paid $2 for this card and I had no idea until I received it that it was numbered let alone that it was #1! At least the sticker Topps used was semi-clear so it blends in with the white background.
