Google Shutting Down Google+ - How Will This Effect Blogger?

A few days ago I received an email from Google that they were closing their own Social Media platform, Google+. No surprise really, I mean who can complete with the likes of Facebook and Twitter? At first I didn't give it much thought, but then it dawn on me that I was using Google+ as my commenting system here on Blogger. It was an easy change to convert back to using Blogger for comments, but I thought I'd share the info with others just in case you hadn't heard.

Now back to your regularly scheduled baseball card blogging...

Blogger and other sites may use Google+ for their commenting system. Comments on blogs may also exist as posts or comments on Google+. This feature will be removed from Blogger by Feb 4th and other sites by March 7th. All your Google+ comments on all sites will be deleted starting April 2, 2019. You can download and save these comments.

  1. Read about this a few days ago. Kinda looking forward to seeing if it'll impact the number of views to my posts. I'm guess it won't make too big of a difference, but I'm curious.

  2. I don't use Google+ and I'm not sure how many others do. I wouldn't think there would be too much of an affect on blogger.

    1. I used the Google+ comments for awhile on this blog, but never on my other blogs. Can't say I noticed much difference between them and I think you're right...I don't think the closing of Google+ will impact Blogger all that much in the end.

  3. I haven't used it but have seen others who do. Hopefully it isn't too tough on those that do.
