Affordable Mini Break Recap - 2020 Topps Stadium Club

With the current state of affairs within the hobby, finding new product (heck, any product for that matter!) at local retail is like winning the lottery. That said when I found some blasters of the recently released 2020 Topps Stadium Club I had to grab a few for a mini break. I really had no idea what to expect, but it turned out to be a lot of fun.

I already knew the photography would be top level and once again Topps delivered. I was so impressed by each and every card, having each one linger on the camera a little longer than normal so everyone could soak in their beauty. The above RCs of Bo Bichette is a great example of how beautiful this set is.

I believe the Chrome parallels in the blasters were seeded 1:24 packs. At least the one we got is of a great player...even if he does play for the evil empire.

Red Foil parallels are the most common, falling at 1:4 packs. Personally, I plan on chasing down a Red Foil team set of the Braves.

Both the Black Foil and Sepia parallels fall 1:8 packs. I thought it was pretty appropriate that we pulled the Roberto Clemente parallel on the day celebrating his life and accomplishments.

This Rainbow Foilboard parallel is numbered 01/25 with pack odds of 1:302. Beautiful card in hand.

I don't believe many people buy Stadium Club for the inserts, but inserts do exist. The Emperors of the Zone (1:8) do nothing for me, but the Power Zone (1:8) design looks much nicer this year over previous years.

In the Wings (1:24) features a simple design for some of the games' young stars. The Bellinger is a Red Foil parallel which had odds of 1:193.

Bash & Burn (1:8) features a nice design and highlights some of the games' heavy hitters. If you like this design...keep reading/scrolling.

Each Hobby box yields two on card autographs, but when buying retail you aren't promised the same thing. I couldn't locate the actual odds for base autos, but the Mariners ended up w/ this nice Dan Vogelbach.

The monster pull of the night (and probably one of the best cards I've pulled period) was this Jose Canseco Bash & Burn auto serially numbered 05/10. These monsters were seeded 1:16,860 packs. Yeah, I think we beat the odds!!

Exclusive to retail blasters were these Widevision Box Toppers. Personally I love these more than a simple relic or manufactured relic card.

I love what Topps has done this year with Stadium Club and I look forward to picking up more for myself. I would like to build the set, but Hobby boxes are expensive and since I grabbed these blasters, I haven't seen anymore at local retail.

Thanks to everyone who participated, I hope to do more of these mini breaks in the near future.

  2. Great break! Was a lot of fun to watch. I agree about the Widevision Box Toppers-- they are a lot more fun and interesting than the played-out relics.

    1. Not that everyone has to agree with me, but thank you! Before I knew these Widevision cards existed I was thinking about the other day of a Widevision Star Wars set Topps did years ago and wondered why Topps had never given this treatment to baseball.
