While I'm not a Chicago White Sox fan, I do enjoy going up I-77 a few miles to Fort Mill, SC to catch a few Charlotte Knights AAA ball games each year. 1) tickets are affordable and 2) it's the closest I get to MLB in person most of the time. I try to hit Atlanta once a year to catch a Braves game, but the logistics don't always line up. So I'll have to settle for catching the Gwinnett Braves when they roll into town April 23-25.
This year the club opens the season at home against the Norfolk Tides (Orioles) followed by the Durham Bulls (Rays). Since I'm a National League guy I'll have to catch up on the AAA American League prospects to figure out what other match ups I should try to catch this season.
Any AAA teams I should try to catch in 2011? If a stud on your team is starting the season in the minor league let me know. Throughout the season the Mets, Indians, Pirates, Phillies, Reds, Red Sox, Twins, Yankees, Nationals and the Tigers farm teams will be making a stop.
Lonnie Chisenhall, future 3rd baseman in Cleveland, will start the season in Triple A Columbus. He should make his big league debut with the Tribe at some point in the 2011 season.
