It appears that everyone that participated in this month's group break was very pleased because I keep getting asked "When is the next group break?". I've been looking at a lot of different options for different boxes to open, but I wanted to pose a question to everyone before announcing the next break.
I know everyone appreciates the low price point I generally feature in my breaks and I aim to keep them affordable. What I want to know is would you rather the next break be "as is" meaning 2-3 boxes of late 90's/early 2000's that features a lot of base cards and inserts or would you like the break to feature one box that guarantees multiple hits with less base cards/inserts?
I've thought about '07 Upper Deck Elements, '08 Donruss Threads, '09 Topps Ticket to Stardom, '09 Topps Unique and most recently '02 Donruss Originals. I believe we can do a box of something like this and keep the individual team prices at no more than $10-$12 w/ shipping included. Less popular teams will most likely be discounted to help fill up the slots. I'm open to suggestions for boxes w/ multiple guaranteed hits too. Feel free to e-mail me (flywheels at yahoo dot com) your suggestion(s) along w/ a link to where they can be purchased.
Like I said I've got lots of ideas for product to feature if the majority of people want the next break to be like all the previous ones. Leave me a comment and let me know what direction you want February's break to lean. Keep doing "as is" or feature 1 box w/ multiple hits. I'll tally up everyone's comments after a week or so and see what the majority opinion is and go from there.
I'm a base card dude, but you knew that!
ReplyDeleteColbey I like your breaks cuz there cheap and old school. That said I wouldn't mind a box of newer stuff but I still like old format and I absolutly love the old pack breaks you threw in the last break. I still love looking at the pack fresh Rollie Fingers OPC I got. Freaking Awesome!!! I just saw it go by on the slide show. And as long as you keep the break to under 15 bucks per I don't really have a problem at all, but I'm cheap. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer the base cards of sets that I missed in my collecting sabbatical. That being said, I would still get in on a multiple hit box as well. You can't beat the price as a team collector.
ReplyDeleteI like the cheap breaks too, but you could get a couple cheap boxes and a multi-hit one to kindda combine the two. That's my thought at least, but to pick from the boxes you listed Elements is pretty cool. You have to be careful of the redemptions though...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Joe, and I too love elements.
ReplyDeleteI personally prefer muliple cheaper boxes from the 1995ish - 2005ish period.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with the expensive boxes is that it becomes more of a lottery where paying premium price for a premium team only makes sense if a autogamer from that team is actually pulled.
If you do include an expensive box, please consider making all teams the same price to avoid this dilemma.
I like 'em all. I am down for pretty much whatever you do, I just had all the cards I needed from your last break.
ReplyDeleteI especially like semi-obscure early 00s late 1990s stuff. The wacky years cards.
Of the five you listed, only the Donrus Originals has enough Twins that I need to make it worthwhile, otherwise I only need SPs or parallels.
ReplyDeleteI will jump in as usual Colbey, your breaks never disapoint. I would be game for any of the boxes you mentiond.
ReplyDeleteI've done a few group breaks on other blogs. I have been somewhat disappointed in each of them for various reasons. I guess for me I'd rather do one with a more expensive box that I can't afford, with a limited number of people and then the cards drafted or randomized to each participant. I go after the sets that I really want on my own, and I have enough unorganized boxes of Astros cards, it's not as advantageous for me to participate. Maybe once I get organized and know what I have versus what I need from an Astros standpoint, multi-box single-team group breaks would make more sense for me. Hope that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteEither way is good with me, as long as you are able to keep the price point fairly low.
